It's the end of our first very long day of many long days... as foliage kicks in here at our Bed & Breakfast...philip sits musing about the day... and the thought comes... what if?... I mean what if  we really don't have to 'take any thought for tomorrow' about "stuff"... what if it's true ... you know...what the scripture says about that...

We are now full swing into foliage season... always our busiest time... there are just a few room nights still available over the next two weeks... but like my last "musing"... I'm not talking about that kind of season... I'm talking about a change in the personal seasons of my life... entering a new season today... I just got a release to write a little bit again...

It has been quite a season for the old fella.... yet another time around... and Philip is not talking about the seasons of the year...

so there we were.... talking about it again... you know.... yet one more time... about how much longer we should plan to keep on innkeeping... what is the next 5 year plan?... when should we think seriously about getting out?.... about putting the place on the market?

the reality of course... is....

I wrote last time about how that it always seems like we are just one phone call away from everything changing... remember your last phone call like that?... at least the last one that changed everything you had planned for the day...?  Remember that one...

Saw another thing today... about golf.... and life...

As I stepped up to the first tee today... I realized another parallel to life... the moment I would take that first swing... I had no clue what would follow... what would happen next... none whatsoever...

I really enjoy playing the game of golf... then again... I really enjoy playing the game of life too... and was musing about how both of them are so much alike....

But then... that would be like saying some day maybe I'll get there too... you know... like my friend... where I too will be empty... maybe like I will finally arrive... be like my friend... egads... that is the total opposite of everything we have been trying to say!

I was thinking no one has yet written the book "Down the Up Staircase"... much tougher way to go....I have a very good friend who could write that one... but he won't... he will never write a book about his journey...I mean that would go against the very purpose of all his travels down that up staircase... it is the road less traveled... writing a book about it would be to gain a reputation...

It's the only way to go.... if you want to go up... you gotta go down first... gotta take the down staircase... I can't go up...unless I go down first... once I do that... once I take the down staircase... then going up no longer matters...
