winding down
Happy to report that things are winding down after what seemed like 4 straight months of non-stop activity... record setting months in the B&B... the big party to "Celebrate my mom's Life" .... family from wall to wall thru it all... the launching of a new venture... and all of this....with no ill affects in the health department... always exciting after this kind of "busy-ness"... :)
...and it is over
foliage is finally over... it seemed to just go on and on and on... but it is official now.... as of this morning.... foliage has ended and we can now go into withdrawal.... just like any other addiction... there is a period of withdrawal... it has been almost every room, every night for 4 weeks... around 90% occupancy... hard to even begin to explain what that is like... :)
...it was early
Foliage was early... my excuse for being "missing in action"... it is hard to explain what things are like here at the Village Victorian during foliage... especially when it comes early.... :)
...and yet another entry
My musing took yet another direction... and produced yet another entry! This time I was waxing poetic. This was my poem entry. ...a new twist
Our local newspaper is putting out a "Literature and Arts" fall supplement... and running a little contest for short stories, poems, photography and the like.... winners will be published. It got my muser going... this was my short story submittal.

...finally did it!
I did it... I really did... we have leaped... er uh jumped... well maybe hopped is a better word.. but we did it... into the wild new world of Facebook for the Bed & Breakfast. I came kicking and screaming but finally did it. Village Victorian now has their very own Facebook page. I had been doing a personal page for a while now and just couldn't ignore the potential any longer.... :)
....just suppose
Just suppose... that everything you knew of as life... suddenly stopped! I mean... just like that. Wham... the door shuts... everything stops. It happens all the time... to everybody eventually... to me it's happened so many times I've lost count! Ask our friends the Rodmans... one day everything is normal... everything is moving along according to plan... and suddenly... wham...
... my tiny little world
Ellen and I were talking about how we keep making our world smaller... and smaller... and smaller... while all around us everyone wants to expand... get bigger... acquire more....I called it my narrow little life.... hmmmm...
...so there I was
So there I was just musing away about what I was trying to communicate to some guests the other day... about how much we enjoy what we do here... and how different it is from all the other businesses we've been involved in... what triggered the whole thing was an email from my friend John in NH about how he was changing jobs...
...what a time it has been
Still recovering physically from all the madness of the past couple months... it is time for Philip to get back to whatever "normal" is supposed to look like for him this month. After our surreal run in July with 93 room nights... we closed out an even more surreal August with 95 room nights... August is supposed to be much slower than July. Whatever happened to the economic downturn? ...... :)
