It's "Stick Season" here in Vermont!
I love our "Stick Season" here in Vermont! Really... I do... we even get a chance to enjoy it since it isn't so busy... feel free to come up and enjoy it as well... lots of rooms and great rates... just check availability... pick out your room... and book right online... lots left for Thanksgiving too... and... at Value Season rates, plus Last Minute Coupon... the mountains are open... much more snow will come... there will be lots of skiing going on... not just Stowe but Smuggs and Jay as well... and great cross country up in Craftsbury.... love to hear from you... some bookings already in for Christmas in Vermont!
always an exciting transition..... :)
We go thru this every year... it is always the same.... the transition from having virtually every room full for 3 weeks... a transition to what seems like all activity of any kind comes grinding to a halt... :).....we go from that almost 100% occupancy of Foliage Season craziness to a whole lot of rooms available.... a very real "withdrawal" experience, especially since Foliage comes directly out of a summer of averaging over 50% occupancy that seems to start around the middle of June, the moment the kids are finished with school... and we love every minute of it... must say though it's nice to have a little more "quiet time" to catch up on all the yard work of the season change... and our "spring cleaning" routine that we do every fall... :)
It's over when it's over....!
And for sure it is over... foliage season has drawn to a close in the Lamoille Valley... the color is still beautiful in the Champlain Valley and it is heading South... there are still a zillion good reasons to come up and visit us here in Morrisville... never a bad time to visit Vermont... :) and the rates just went down for the rest of October and will go down again on November 1st as our value season begins....
final week of our foliage season!
Our foliage season here at Village Victorian officially comes to a close on October 14th... it also is the date when we have some rooms available once again...then our regular season rates go into effect on the 15th and continue for the rest of the month... the color here in the Lamoille Valey has peaked... now it is a question of just how long will it stay beautiful... we shall see... you can check the color at the Foliage Network for updates throughout Vermont at this link: foliagenetwork.com ... click on their foliage reorts....
Start thinking about our quieter times here in Vermont as we head towards our Value Season starting on November 1st. Just enjoy a little escape to an always beautiful Vermont at very reasonable rates.
Foliage is peaking here...right on time!
It has been the best color in years... the guests keep bringing back glowing reports... wish we had more rooms to sell but only two room nights left during foliage... still availability at our Shadow Lake Cottage for this next week... it is just past peak up there but still gorgeous... the week after foliage kinda depends on the weather but usually is just receding in intensity and brightness as the leaves start to fall more seriously... plenty of availability the week of October 14th.... come on up... enjoy a little escape.... :)

It has begun!
Foliage has officially arrived... in all it splendor... going to be a great one... I drove up to our Lake Cottage on an overcast day... sprinkling... no sun... yet the trip up through the Lamoille Valley was already very beautiful even though peak probably won't be arriving here until somewhere around Columbus day... but oh how beautiful it is getting to peak and then another week leaving that mystical peak of color... should be totally gorgeous right thru the middle of the month. The Northeast Kingdom on the other hand is getting there very quickly... the closer I got to Shadow Lake, the more beautiful it got... it should peak there over the first couple days of October... the foliage around the Lake was difficult to describe... reds. oranges, yellows and always the green... unbelievable mixture! And that was without any sun!!!... Still have a room night or two here and there... pick a night... any night... :)
Foliage Season in Vermont
Sometimes it seems like the whole world comes to Vermont to experience what Charles Kuralt called a splendor that "overpowers the senses"... there are times (like now) where I can "hear it coming", "feel it" as the wind blows softly through the trees... it is like I can almost "smell its fragrance" rolling in upon us... there are not many room nights left... see if one fits for you... just check our availability calendar... and don't forget our Lake Cottage...there is still availability up there on Shadow Lake where the early color has just arrived... next week should make the Northeast Kingdom absolutely gorgeous... while right here in beautiful downtown Morrisville we are usually a week later than the Northeast Kingdom... so... it seems that Foliage Season is right on time... why don't you think about joining us?
Think Lake Cottage for the fall!
After having the Lake Cottage full all summer, it was a bit of a shock to see that it is still pretty much open through foliage season...(September 21st thru October 14th)... so... it is time to think about Shadow Lake as the base for your fall trip... use our Lake Cottage for day trips to where the color is...also check out our Charles Kuralt quote above...about foliage in Vermont... :)...and nothing is more spectacular than the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont during foliage... give it some serious thought.. you can book it right online... especially with less and less options in the B&B as folks continue to fill in some of the blanks in our schedule... occupancy is already around 75%...so...check our availability calendar to see if any rooms left will work for you... and... make sure you visit our discounts & specials page.... maybe one of our coupons will apply for you as well... coupons valid at the B&B only... with online bookings !!!
August is ending!
As August closes, still 3 rooms left for Friday... nothing left for Saturday... and Saturday brings us our first day of September! The kids are all heading back to school... this is the Labor Day weekend with 2 rooms left for Sunday... then the quietness of the first week of September! After that things get busy again... middle of the month brings us the "British Invasion" with only a room night here and there and Saturday is full... followed by Foliage Season (which begins here on September 21st and continues thru October 14th)... 76 of our 115 room nights (2/3rds) are already sold.. check our availability calendar to see if anything left will work for you... busy busy time of year in Vermont!
Think September!!!
The third weekend of August is now in the history books... only one more weekend to go (and we have no rooms left for that one anyway)...so... it is definitely time to think September... unless of course you come up Sunday thru Thursday in what is left of August... when you do that you also save $20 from the weekend rates... :) and... that's true in September too... because the weekends are pretty much gone except for 9/7-8... beyond that there are just random roomnites once we hit foliage... check our availability calendar and see if you can find anything that might work for you... love to have you visit with us and make some new friends.
