We love to celebrate....we are celebrators....there is so much to celebrate...we celebrate life...our relationship with God...our relationships with people....
I was talking about our wonderful world of blame shifting yesterday...how nothing that ever happens in my life is my fault...it has progressed.... (in the U.S. particularly) to the point of absurdity.....it permeates every area of our lives.
Way back when....in the Garden...Adam and Eve stood before God naked and not ashamed....hmmm....why is it that we have a problem being naked in front of almost anyone...?? Do you think maybe something happened? Adam and Eve had an awesome relationship with their creator...they talked with Him...like in having conversations with Him...communication .... they went for walks together in the garden in the cool of the day.
If we don't get it....it's not going to be because Philip hasn't given it his best shot. I will keep on trying.....and trying....and trying.....a regular little energizer bunny! :)
Look at the incredible stress in our society right now. These stats I am going to throw at you, probably haven't even begun to catch up with this past year's goings-on... put the economic mess today on top of these statistics and it's scary to even begin to think about what is happening out there right now.
In light of what I was working at communicating yesterday...I found the following quote quite interesting....it is John Eldredge from his book Walking with God.....(finally made it all the way up to page 164...yessss!)... :)
This is from a section titled "Not Every Gospel Is Equal"
I was musing about what I said yesterday of never having been accused of being politically correct.... don't get me wrong....I did not mean by that that I run around deliberately trying to offend people all day....maybe I did offend one person so far this year...well...ok....maybe two ?.... :)
I touched on this one just a bit yesterday.....the other scene from We Were Soldiers that was deleted and has never been seen by those going into the movie house...it was absolutely the most poignant.... moving....touching scene...in the entire movie...and they deleted it.... :(
They left out the best scenes in the movie....seriously... they did....I strongly urge you to see the movie....and...get the DVD version so you can see the special features. I will be moving on from We were Soldiers... but I feel I still need to talk about a couple important scenes that went to the cutting room floor....they can only be viewed by going to the special features... my take is that both scenes were a tad controversial... :) So they never made it into the released film.
I mentioned that the third time I watched We Were Soldiers was when I brought it in to the nursing home where my 93 year old mom is....to watch it with her.
The next thing I saw this time around watching "We Were Soldiers"... came from an opening quotation in the special feature about why they made the movie... suddenly a whole bunch of stuff that was rolling around in my musing area...made sense....it all came together for me.
"American soldiers in battle don't fight for what some President says on TV...they don't fight for mom...apple pie...the American flag.............they fight for one another" ....... General Hal Moore.
