I said a few things about baloney the other day, fully realizing that there may be some of you out there that really enjoy baloney. I am prone to make some very black and white, as well as very broad and general kind of statements, in a pretty opinionated manner....all of which makes it possible to offend a few folks from time to time.....maybe even some who actually do like the taste of baloney....and that's ok for them to like baloney.
My goal is not to offend anyone, nor is it to give the final, definitive statement of the way things are or should be......my opinion is simply that....my opinion... It's the way Philip sees things based on his experiences these past 40 years walking with the Lord. The Lord made each of us very, very different.....and this is a good thing.... one of any of us is surely enough. :)
It is possible that, every once in a while, somebody may not completely agree with my declaration of things as I see them. On the other hand, I do hope that the things I say will challenge people to look at the issues I bring up, search them out for themselves and always, always I hope that the searching process will bring them into a deeper and more intimate relationship with Jesus.
I just happen to be a Black and White say what I think type of person. I enjoy people who are like that too.....which is why I read guys like Oswald Chambers (1874 -1917) ands A.W. Tozer (1897 - 1963)...... they said what was in their hearts and never pulled any punches. They never heard about being politically correct.....there was no such catchword back then....they just spoke the truth
I believe they understood and obeyed 1 Corinthians 5:9-13
"I wrote you in my letter not to associate with immoral people; I did not at all mean with the immoral people of this world, or with the covetous and swindlers, or with idolaters; for then you would have to go out of the world. But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he should be an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler--not even to eat with such a one. For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Do you not judge those who are within the church? But those who are outside, God judges."
They had that little gift I wrote about in my Baloney treatment the other day....the gift of discernment which is so lacking in the church today.....running around in our circles of political correctness crying out "judge not lest ye be judged".... and never dealing with the issues in the church that need to be addressed.
Solomon, the wisest man that ever lived, asked God for discernment in order to judge God's people! ....it went like this.
"Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your
people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to
judge this great people of Yours?
--1 Kings 3:9
Maybe we need a little more discernment and a whole lot less political correctness.
