I was teasing with my good friend Gordon today..... he is the snowball friend from the South that I wrote about once......(since they don't have snow where he lives, I always put a snowball in the freezer for him when they visit up here in the summers)....... and we do carry on a lot with emails back and forth.....kind of a can you top this latest silliness of mine.....
Anyway, it got me thinking (and you already know how dangerous that is) about one of my other pet peaves here in the Western World System.....retirement! I wonder what that word would mean in Laos, Africa, Afghanistan....maybe Iraq? Did Moses retire? I hear these 50 year olds talking about how they want an early retirement, hopefully by 55, just want to buy the old mobile home and travel around the country and do some fishing..... almost like work was some evil thing....I've heard people say it was part of the fall!
C'mon folks....he put us here to work, to cultivate the garden, and....since the fall.... it's to do warfare with that usurper who still thinks this is his world.....it isn't....it belongs to God's King..... His name is Jesus.
Come on guys.....it's time for people to do the Caleb thing!
10 “And now behold, the LORD has let me live, just as He spoke, these forty-five years, from the time that the LORD spoke this word to Moses, when Israel walked in the wilderness; and now behold, I am eighty-five years old today.
11 “I am still as strong today as I was in the day Moses sent me; as my strength was then, so my strength is now, for war and for going out and coming in.
12 “Now then, give me this hill country about which the LORD spoke on that day, for you heard on that day that Anakim were there, with great fortified cities; perhaps the LORD will be with me, and I shall drive them out as the LORD has spoken.”
Since I repented again of running everybody else's life a few days ago..... :) I will only say that this guy Caleb has the right idea about retirement..... "give me that hill country to conquer Lord and I'll go up there and lead the attack on the Anakim.... perhaps You will be with me and drive them all out...."
What the heck...if Caleb could do that at 85, what am I going to be afraid of.....I'm not even 75 yet! So....since I refuse to run your life, you are free to do what you like....
Me? I can't wait till I hit 85.....so I can do the Caleb thing!
