....now why don't he write....?

It has been 2 weeks now since Mom died on May 19th... life as we have known it for the past four and a half years suddenly just ground to a halt... I mean everything  we have done... every decision we have made.... over those past years has been focused on how Mom would be affected  by that decision... it was all about our including her in everything we possibly could... visiting her 3 or 4 times a week... shopping for her... doing her laundry... advocating for her in a zillion different elderly areas...bringing her out for meals or family stuff at the house..... or to a restaurant.. and then as her health deteriorated ... bringing the meals in to her at the Manor...

Her final time out was to witness our son Jonathan's marriage to Amy last September... what a joy  that was for her... so many memories... so many things happened relationally between her and I and Ellen... so many things happened relationally between my brothers Bruno and Marc and my sister Maris... all because of her being here in Morrisville.... it was an amazing... wonderful time for all of us......then suddenly it all stopped.

I  began to write a few thoughts  on death and dying.... but there was so much more to say rolling around thru my head... yet there was always something preempting my being able to take that time to sit down and write.  Theoretically I should have had all kinds of time now to write...

I woke up early this morning thinking about a scene from one my favorite movies... "Dances With Wolves" ... where this crude old trader is taking Dunbar in his wagon out to his post... they come upon what once had been a family heading West in their wagon... obviously attacked by Indians... the vulgar old fellow stands over what had been the mother and mocks in his twisted sense of humor... "now why don't she write..."

I heard that voice saying to Philip.... "now why don't he write..."

So I've been musing  about that on and off thru the day... I expect I'll try to write about it tomorrow...been seeing some interesting things as I have talked this over with the Lord... the thing the Lord said to me as I pursued this with Him was... "Think instead about why you do  write...."

That really got me going...
