News from the Village Victorian Bed and Breakfast

February is almost over and even the extra day this year doesn’t seem to slow things down any......time keeps flying by......and the business just keeps growing and growing.....mind boggling really.

The Christmas/New Year Holiday season was amazing. With the addition of the new Annex that began during foliage season, we were busier than I ever could have imagined at the end of the year. The place looked great with Ellen’s usual decorating gift on display everywhere. Nice shot of the living area and her pretty little tree. Besides every room being filled with old and new friends, our Seattle group was all here as well and Nanna Ellen got to perch our newest granddaughter, Anna Mei , on her lap, whilst the elder Lian Mei was busy making a snow man with a little help from her daddy. Note the creative arms on the snow man. Actually...she got even more creative a little later, sticking a chopstick on each side of the head.....proudly announcing that those were his ears.

Somehow, we got to sneak away to New Hampshire( to a B&B of course) to attend a wedding. Must say it is a grand looking couple there in the photo.....for many of you this may be the only time you see me wearing a tie! For other photos, you will have to visit our new: Family Blog: http://thewolffs.wordpress.com

The year started off with a whole bunch of visits from old friends and family that added to our normal busyness. We decided to start taking more pictures for both the newsletter and the family blog.....not to be confused with Philips now world famous Musings.  Unfortunately, we started a little too late taking pictures and missed a number of friends....you’ll have to come back!  My German grandmother used to say, “Wie grow too soon oldt und too late schmart !”

We celebrated Mom’s 93rd birthday in The Manor. Our friend Bill helped me move her in over there a couple years ago on one of his stays here. He’s been coming since July of 2004.......and has continued on to become a legend around here, so it’s probably time to introduce him to everybody. Bill is a guy who has his own special place in our history here at Village Victorian B&B....we had to put him in a category all by himself so other folks who come regularly once or twice a year will not be offended. There is only one Bill. He is like part of the family....he always sits down to family dinner with us (mostly just leftovers!). He has said some awesome things about us....check out his comment on our Business Page.  He was talking there about coming up for his 60th visit back in September.....but he just keeps coming...even took a foliage weekend escape with his wife....like a busman’s holiday! His next business trip (which could happen before this is even published) will now be his 75th!!!!

Any one else out there wants to challenge the record? We love it. :)

Besides all those goings on, we are having major renovations done up at our Lake Cottage in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Here is a sneak preview of some of the activity. Should be ready for our May 1st opening. You can read about the plans on our Lake Cottage Page. (See the photos at the end of this newsletter.)

Then of course, last but hardly least, is the record breaking snowfall here in Vermont. The plow guy had no place to put any more snow, we had already lost one parking place and Ellen’s entrance to her Gift Shopped was about to disappear.....so....we had to come in with the really, really serious machine.

We have friends who come up regularly in the summers that I always make a snowball for and put it in the freezer for them. They don’t do snow where they live. I told him when he comes up this August, he will be able to make his own snowball.....we’ll have so much snow still laying around.

Till next time,

Blessings
Ellen and Philip
