What do we say?
I was talking about what we think yesterday.....incredibly important. I encouraged you to think about Jesus. Tozer said once "Make your thoughts a sanctuary in which God can dwell". God dwells in our hearts. That is why Satan wants to steal our hearts or destroy them. It is the dwelling place of God and Satan hates God. Because he hates God, he hates you. He wants to have your heart.
The things that are in our hearts (the things we have been thinking about) are the things that come out of our mouths. Check out Mt 15:18..... it's very clear...and verse 19 makes it clear that some pretty ugly stuff can be manifested from our hearts.
We can think evil in our hearts, reason there, do lots of things there, both good and bad and ugly. We may think that the things we think about are some big private secret but not really...... God tells us that He knows what's in our hearts anyway.
So many things about the heart.... doubts arise in them, they can become dull, we can understand things there or deny things there, we can hear God there or pretend He is not saying anything, we can have His love poured out there or push it away....that's why we are exhorted to guard our hearts. The best way I know how to do that is to think on the right things, those things I talked about yesterday that really just describe the Son of God.
So here is the litmus test......what are the things coming out of my mouth? Look carefully at them. Think about them. Are they only things to encourage, build up, comfort or help others or are they......tearing down, destroying, gossiping, hurting others.....fill in your own blanks here.
What I say (what comes out of my mouth) is the way I can know where I am personally on all this. The things I am thinking about will be the things coming out of my mouth.
Maybe we ought to change the things we think about.
:)
