It was a valid offer. He offered Jesus the kingdoms of this world. They belonged to him...... they had been handed over to him by Adam's disobedience..... until the second Adam (Jesus) refused the same offer and took them back by His obedience to Father. And now......"The kingdoms of this world, they have become the kingdoms of our God and of His Christ". Jesus took them back, making it possible for us, by His life in us, to make that same choice, refuse Satan's offer by choosing to obey Father as well.
"5 And he led Him up and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
6* And the devil said to Him, “I will give You all this domain and its glory; for it has been handed over to me, and I give it to whomever I wish.
7* “Therefore if You worship before me, it shall all be Yours.”
8* And Jesus answered and said to him, “It is written, ‘YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD AND SERVE HIM ONLY.’”

Yes sir.....it can all be yours big fella! You can have it all! Everything the world clamors after.... money, power, success, wine, women and song guys.... really big house, sports car convertible and the SUV.... your name in lights. We live in the most acquiring generation in history...bigger boys/bigger toys....how much money is enough the man asked.....$1000 a week more than I earn the other man responded.... and....you get all the glory that goes with it. It's amazing the way people flock to pamper the folks with a few bucks. I even start to believe my own press about the wonderfulness of Philip!

And I become a worshiper of myself and all my stuff. I have accepted the offer and continue to live in my own little world of selfishness, power and exploitation. Doesn't have to be that way. I don't have to serve myself and all my stuff. I choose instead to serve the Lord my God and worship Him alone.

Turn down the offer. You will get the offer..... you'll get it time after time after time.... but... you can turn it down.... each and every time..... and live in total freedom to all that stuff.
