When you get to 73 of them you think about things like half your high school graduating class has already died....you think about death and dieing a lot more than you do at 23! I stopped getting the daily newspaper so I wouldn't waste all that time zipping over to the obits to see how many people had died that were younger than me.
But this morning, I just kept thinking about the blessings from all the relationships I have and so I decided to have a relational birthday. Can't get relationships out of my head. Through one of my new friends, John in NH(relationship) I got a new connection into what we call relational Christianity, with a guy named Wayne Jacobsen.....looks like the real deal to me. He is over there in my blogroll under Lifestream....read his testimony....it's going to take me the rest of the year to work my way through his entire web-site but I can't hardly wait to try! Maybe by my 74th birthday! :)
Anyway, I sent emails to a bunch of my friends (encouraging them to wish me a happy birthday) :) and just make it all a part my relational birthday! I had breakfast with Ellen, coffee with Bodie who came over...tried to call Jeff..... I suddenly realized just how awesome it is to have all these relationships...like the folks in my Blogroll....Owen in NH...Big Bill who comes to the B&B all the time on business (hit 80 visits last time)...Jeff out there in Thailand, Darryl in Seattle, Gordon in NC....actually interrupted this with a chat with Adam in Oregon who was wondering what on earth I was doing up at this hour.... I think I overheated playing 9 holes with my golfing buddies in the old duffers league, came home, cut the grass, went out with Ellen and played 18 holes of miniature golf, went to Pie in the Sky for Pizza together and came home to wait for a later arriving guest but Ellen stayed up as it got past 9pm...I woke up at 11 and was too hot to go back to sleep, drank a glass of water, two glasses of OJ with lots of ice, put on the AC and I think I have finally cooled off enough to try to get back to sleep. I'll get back to this on the morrow!
