....on the building of walls!
It gets really ugly though when I insist that you see what I see....that you do what I do...and that the facet of the truth that I have seen is the whole truth and the totality of truth and then I start shaping my little stone to fit it into the wall. I am now adding my stone to all the others that have been fitted in over the last 2000 years....to seal off the entrance into the heart of God that Jesus opened for us when He tore the veil.
Bodie was over for coffee and we were talking about this Truth that Jeff had seen. He said something to the effect that when we rebuild something that God has torn down, then we become transgressors. That is what Paul said to the Galations when the Jewish Christians were trying to lay all the Law stuff back on the new believers.
“For if I rebuild what I have once destroyed, I prove myself to be a transgressor."
We are always building something....a bunch of folks got together to build a city and then a tower....it was called Babel. We build houses even though God specifically said..."you shall not build a house for Me"...we like edifices....cathedral....capital C buildings...the why of all that being human nature....we want to be God...we want to be the ones with the truth! I can't tell you how many times I have done that!
I like this from Wayne Jacobsen: ”Every time people see God moving, someone has to build a building or start a movement. Peter was that way at the Transfiguration. When He couldn’t think of anything else to do, he proposed a building program. If you’re going to walk this way, you’ve got to find freedom from the overestimation of your own capabilities.”
I would take it a step further and suggest not to walk that way at all...because when we do it we have already proven we have an overestimation of ourselves.
