...back when I was an earthling
I had this idea way back... back when I was an earthling... that somehow things were always going to go the way I thought they should go... I was living in the land of miracles... I asked God to do things and He did them... wow... God was in my box of crackerjacks.... all I had to do was open the box and let Him out to do my bidding... shazaam... totally a done deal big guy.
I would have come unglued back then if I had a week like this past one... you know... kinda like..."Hey God... where did you go...? this stuff ain't supposed to happen....! " ... but it did happen... a volcano vents and my wife spends a 4th week in Rwanda... come on now.... "3 weeks was bad enough, Lord... then one of my really good friends has a heart attack in an airport... followed by a massive stroke and now after a 5 day horror story, the family is having to wrestle with the even greater horror of pulling the plug on the respirator... "Lord.. can I say again...this stuff is not supposed to happen..." I am back eating oatmeal and soup because my gums are so sore I don't even want to stick the new dentures in my mouth... then spring finally came to Vermont and the golf course finally opened and my wife is finally on the way back and what happens? Winter returns... it's 35 degrees and been snowing all day long!
Fortunately I grew up a little over the past 40 years and I see all this stuff now.... as just life in the land of the earthlings... where the ruler of the Earthling Kingdom is waging war with the ruler of the Aliens Kingdom... and it ain't over till it's over... 1Co 15:25 "For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet" And He is doing just that...
Even when things don't go the way I plan them.... the way I prefer them to be....
This week I certainly preferred that they not go the way that they are in fact going... somehow all the craziness... constantly changing plans... things upside down and backwards all around us... somehow... all of it... all of it is part of His sovereign plan and purpose... and He will turn it for good...
Some of those things that have happened over the past 42 years.... have taken years and years to work thru with God... to get to the place where I now understand... but today... I know... that He sovereignly works all things... as in every ugly horrible messy thing... together for good... according to His purpose... not my purpose.
Even all the crazy stuff I saw in the Pentecostal Church.... God will use it all...and Philip will continue to tell his stories... continue to release the burden he carries... as whistleblower on the horror of the Earthling Kingdom's Religious Systems .... ever wonder how Philip Morris responded to their whistleblowers.... I have... I watched the movie about that.... hmmmm.
