It started long before  I ever knew anything about it... that hook thing.  Actually... it is there in all of us... part of our original equipment... way back when Eve swallowed  the first hook back there in the Garden... just eat from that  tree and you will be just like  God...if you think God can do great things... just you wait and see what you can do when you swallow this hook!We are all clueless  that it is even there... but off we go... each of us striving to do great things... have an impact on the world around us... it is in all of us... be successful ... make lots of money... accomplish much... build things... discover things... leave your mark... be somebody!   Nobody had to teach us  that... it was down there deep inside...all the hook needs  is to have it tugged a little bit... and we are on our way again to build our next little empire... it is part of another kingdom... it is called the kingdom of darkness... the kingdoms of this world... we are born into it... it is not a choice that we make... it is built into the very fiber of our being....Then we have our collision  with God as we journey through the kingdoms of this world... we suddenly discover  there is a way out... it is called the Kingdom of God... for a moment... just a moment... we are free from the hook... only to swallow it all over again... as the religious systems explain to us  how we need to take all that energy... and all our gifts.. all our resources... that we were using to do great things for ourselves... and now take them and use  them for the glory of God by accomplishing great things for Him........  how sad  that is.....Somehow we continue to miss that fact that all  of the world's systems.... economic... political... social and religious... all of them... each one... is one of those kingdom's of this world.... and they all have the hook.... that hook to do great things...When will we see that this thing is not about us... or about our doing  anything for Him... ?  It is about our simply loving "the Lord our God with all our heart and mind and soul and strength... and our neighbor as ourselves..."  ...then kicking back... relaxing... and enjoying the journey as we watch the Lord doing everything He wants to do...:)
