my favorite tune
My favorite tune was always to have everything perfect... the perfect job... with the perfect income (lots of it...) :) ... the perfect wife who would begat perfect kids.... in our perfect house with perfect neighbors... in our perfect neighborhood... where everybody is really perfect to each other and we all live happily ever after.... :)
That's really not how it all worked out... actually it was far beyond a total disaster in every one of those areas... time after time .... my great tune was totally out of tune.... how about yours?
What is your favorite tune? Make a million dollars... be a big shot... have a great big successful business... hit the lottery... success on every level... secular or religious... how about pastor the perfect church... I tried it all... it didn't work... none of it ever will work... it is not supposed to .... so guess what ... it doesn't... :)
We need to start playing a different tune... it is called His Tune...
Especially all the religious folks out there who are fiddling away at their great plans for God.... it isn't going to work... His plan is not our plan for Him...
I could have saved myself a whole lot of pain if I had paid some attention to the turn of the century writers when I first came to know God in a real way back in 1968... I think I'll just tell that story tomorrow... I had come into an understanding of what was termed several things back then... yeah...lots of names for it: ...the Deeper Life.... Victorious Life... Exchanged Life... Higher Life.... Keswick Experience... it all started back in the mid-1800's... was really big at the turn of the century with writers like Jesse Penn-Lewis, Andrew Murray, Oswald Chambers, Norman Grubb, Roy Hession, Arthur Wallis, Watchman Nee...
I first touched it shortly after my conversion in 1968... I even incorporated my 501C3 non-profit as "Deeper Life, Inc."... I was literally the President of Deeper Life! :)
It was a wonderfully different tune... but religion seduced me with that other tune... the one I wrote about the other day... the tune of .... self-fulfillment...
I had to go thru a lot of pain to get back to where I began... 42 years ago.
On the 'morrow!
