...of stops and stoppings
True confession time... one man's stop or stopping of anything is not necessarily another man's stop or stopping.... each of us is so incredibly unique and different... my friend Gordon told me that I had no idea of what it means to relax... can you believe that... ? Me... Philip the Muser... unable to relax...? So here comes the true confession...
When I escaped to the Lake with Ellen... she and Jen and the grandchildren went down to the lake to play in the water... that is "relaxing" to them... not so for Philip... I watched Gordon sit for hours working on a 1000 piece puzzle... that may be a great way for Gordon to relax but it would drive Philip nutso! ... :)
I watched a little Golf up at the Lake... but soon found myself relaxing the way that Philip relaxes... doing something physical that is totally different from my normal routine... I was crawling all over the tree that my son-in-law and I had dropped a week earlier.... cutting branches off... hauling them up to the fire pit... dragging other dead branches from 3 other places in our woods... spent the next 3 hours playing pyro.... hauling more branches... sawing limbs too big for my cutter... and piling them all onto my bonfire... it was an incredible relaxing afternoon...
Ellen relaxes out on the porch with a glass of wine and a good book... or doing a Soduko puzzle... not Philip... at 12:30 most days I take my break and relax by driving up to Copley Country Club and smashing little white golf balls as hard as I can... with other old duffers like myself.... in our 12:45 league.... pulling my golf cart around the 9 holes.... then I drive back by 3:30 to start the second half of my day... welcoming new guests... after my nice relaxing break.... :)
Different strokes... different folks... I am so glad God made us all so different...
:)
