George Warnock?

Ever heard of him... George Warnock?  I never did... who is this guy  anyway?  Well... my friend Bodie sent along  a little somethin'..... as he is prone to do... all the time... got me a little excited.... as he is also prone to do... all the time....  :)

Turns out Warnock is another of those guys from way back... born in 1917... makes him 94.. and still "keepin' on keepin' on"...  Seems he was one of young men involved in an outpouring  of God back in 1948 that turned into a "movement"... as those things  are prone to do...  :)

That movement became known as "The Latter Rain"... it went the way of all movements ... as men take over... grieve the Spirit... and the Lord leaves.... Warnock put it this way...

"A larger stream that flowed out of it soon became known as "Latter Rain," but I was not convinced that it had retained the original glow and anointing as at the beginning and I saw no reason for staying in a movement that seemed to me, to have gone the way of most other movements of the past.  I felt no urgency in my heart to continue on as a part of the larger stream of Latter Rain."

...what is such a blessing to this ..."younger old fella" ... is that the Lord is showing us ... the same things that Warnock saw... not only did he see what we see...

"Nor did I then, or now consider that "being in the ministry" was in any way the "high calling of God in Christ Jesus."  But rather the highest calling I believe is to simply "walk with God" and do His will, be it in the shop, on the farm, in an office, or on the assembly line. "

But more than just seeing it...  he acted upon it .... in his mid-30's when most of us were busy climbing the ladder to greater and greater ministry... he left  it all... sadly....it took me  a lot longer than it took George Warnock.... I'm very happy though... that in His mercy...He finally opened  my eyes... as He did  for this very young man.....

"I knew I must leave… (the ministry)....  I went back to my trade as a carpenter, and remained at that till I was well-past retirement age....."

Maybe just saying it here again... that the highest good is not going off to bible school to be a minister.... it is simply being who you are where you are... in Him.... so.. maybe... just saying it again... will help somebody else to ask  the questions... help somebody else to see it... help somebody else to act on it...
