If someone comes along and says or does something totally different  from my norm... like really radical  to my thinking... to my preconceptions  of life  ... how do I react  to that?   What is my response...?  Am I threatened  in  some way?   Like when a good friend of mine challenged me recently... with this statement....

"Our mission is not to the world.... our mission is to Him..."    That one just rattled my evangelical cage  big time.

Even with all this rattling  going on .... everything inside me was resonating  with the truth of that statement... it just fit so well with everything we have been seeing  over these past couple years now....  Everything is about Him.  We evangelicals have made it  it all about us...  all about the creature...rather than the creator... we have made ourselves the center  of the universe... it is now all about us... instead of about Him.

I was thinking about that endless ocean  again and the zillion creatures swimming around in it or whatever else ocean critters do... you know.... just being who they are... right there in that ocean.... going up and down through the endless swells and waves of their lives...  totally dependent upon the ocean for absolutely everything...every single day of their lives...  hmmmm.....

Just suppose... we were designed  to live each day like that... in the ocean... in Him... to swim around... wherever we are ...every single day... in Him... to exist every single day...  move  through every single day.... in Him...swimming through the ocean of life.. Jesus....  He is  the ocean of Life... our mission is to Him... He'll take care of all the others....

Our part is to just enjoy the ocean... enjoy the one in whom we live and move and have our very existence... He is our mission... our mission  is not to all the other creatures .... living in the ocean.  The ocean will take care of them.... the same way the ocean will take care of us.

Our mission is to Him.
