Philip's Story

In 1999 at age 64 I was just about ready to throw in the towel.

The WolffsBack in 1968 at age 32 working on 33, I had a very dramatic religious experience that changed my life. With my new faith, my life changed from being an overweight, alcoholic, totally selfish womanizer, chewing on 3 packs of Camels a day, to someone who really wanted to get his act together and hopefully help others to do that as well.

I began a second 32 year journey with the understanding that I had been created body, soul and spirit and each was important to take care of. I saw that what I put into me, was what I would become. I needed to watch what food I took into each of these areas and learn how to become fit….. body, soul and spirit.

My goals...

In the begining, my goal  was to see if I could actually write down my thoughts from day to day. Guess that was easier than I thought.... smiley

My motivation was the proclamation Jesus made when He stood in the synagogue (Luke 4:16) and explained why He had come to earth.  He read the following from the book of Isaiah

A Psalm

Philip Wolff        10-27-99

Oh God, my God… How I long to know You.
Sometimes it seems forever… forever my  heart has been going out
Towards You… to know You… to touch You… to walk with You…
To hear Your voice… to see Your face.
Again and again I have cried out to You.

David was held before me as the example.
He was the man “after Your own heart”.
It was the Davids  You longed for…the Davids that You wanted.
The Davids were those special people, those special servants,
Who gave their lives to You in some unique way.

So I cried to the Lord…. I am Yours.  I am Your David.
I will serve You.  What will You have me to do?

I will do this Lord and I will do that.  I will do the other also.
How about this Lord?  Or surely that?
Now that would truly be good to do!

Father... thank you for another day... it's good... I want to just stop for a few minutes and  focus on you as the most important thing in my life… to verbalize my  thoughts… to look to you as the source of everything...take me into those green pastures ...where I get so nourished every day… lead me by the still waters... where I get refreshed and restored by you... fill me with your life... you are the living water... bring me into your rest where I stop all my work and watch... as you do the work that you want done… keep my heart at peace throughout the day…. continue to teach me how to live in your son…. how to talk with you about everything ... how to hear your voice each time you speak. Then lead me in your paths of righteousness for your name’s sake.

(A Psalm of Philip) Blessed be the LORD, my rock, Who trains my hands for war, And my fingers for battle; You are my lovingkindness and my fortress, My stronghold and my deliverer; My shield and He in whom I take refuge; Who subdues my enemy Satan under me as I go forth and attack .
