People joke about Vermont having only two seasons.....winter...and the 4th of July!

just got back.....

  • Musings
It's good to be back from yet another quick trip. This time to spend some time with my friend Owen from NH. It has been a very interesting week.....learning tons of things.....but always coming back to the one thing the Lord is trying to show me....show us....show His people..... that single most important thing we need to give ourselves to, in order to come to that place of intimacy in Him that I keep talking about. Would you like to know what that is? You know I'll talk about it anyway so you might just as well say "Yes!" :)

More on communicating.....

I just read something in the new John Eldredge book, that really is just what I want to say.....it is so nice to have somebody agree with me!   :)   No way could I say it better or even mess with it...so I am going to just quote it!

Walking with God - John Eldredge - Page 28, On Learning to Listen

We are invited to become followers of Jesus. Not just believers. Followers. There is a difference.

Ask questions.....

Submitted by philip on Sat, 04/12/2008 - 07:47
  • Musings
He really does want to talk to us. One of the best ways we can co-operate with that process is to ask Him questions. It is almost like we have been programmed by our religious systems to believe that God is much to busy with all the real problems going on all over the world to mess with my little concerns.... who are you to think God would listen to you anyway and even if He did, if He knew what you were really thinking, it would be lightning bolt time!

Kailiah......

Yesterday, I mentioned receiving a burden from the Lord. It was a very powerful thing. Our friends, the Rodmans, had sent us an email asking us to pray for a little girl named Kailiah.

the burden of the Lord

Did you know that it is ok with God not to pray for everything?

I remember when I first met the Lord (that's that Christianese language I mentioned the other day).,...but it expresses so well what happened back then in 1968 that I risk using it here :)

Two days ago, I mentioned the brakes that are located on the passenger seat side of our car....remember?.....that's where my wife sits because I am the greatest driver in the whole world? ...actually the best at doing anything? Yes, you do remember that, right? Let me tell you about the importance of those brakes.

John Eldredge

I need to recommend a brother. I do this with only one reservation....I've only met him thru his writings.....but my heart tells me that no one can be this real and not be real. Did I just say that.? Maybe that will be one of my "Quotables" as in able to quote! My friend Darryl encouraged me to have a separate page of quotables on m y blog!~ "No one can be this real and not be real" :)

Can I help it if I'm right?

Submitted by philip on Mon, 04/07/2008 - 17:45
  • Musings
A preacher friend used to always break me up when illustrating some conflict or disagreement and he would then give the definitive word on the subject....there would be a pause and sincere appeal to his listener's..."Come on now, can I help it if I'm right?"

his crowning deception!

Submitted by philip on Sun, 04/06/2008 - 08:35

Satan really believes he is going to win this war. That is his ultimate deception. His next biggest deception (and there is a pretty long list) is to get us all preoccupied with the thing he is preoccupied with.....and it is all Satan ever thinks about......his ultimate eternal damnation.....his ultimate consumption in the lake of fire!
